BEIJING, China--The U.S. Women's Goalball Team consisting of Jen Armbruster (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Lisa Banta (Boonton, N.J.), Asya Miller (Lapeer, Mich.), Robin Theryoung (Colorado Springs, Colo.) Jessica Lorenz (Berkley, Calif.) and Jackie Barnes (Wadsworth, Ill.) beat Denmark in sudden overtime to play China for the gold. The U.S. team then beat China, 6-5, in a sold-out Beijing Institute of Technology Gymnasium to win the gold medal.





Defending champion the United States defeated Germany 50-38 for the Women's Wheelchair Basketball gold medal, while defending silver medalist Australia held off Japan 53-47 to win bronze on Monday at the National Indoor Stadium.







The United States beat Australia 53-44 in the Wheelchair Rugby Mixed Open gold medal match during the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing on September 16, 2008.

Swimming


There were many, many U.S. swimmers that won gold medals, many of them equalling or outright smashing many world and Paralympic records. The U.S. women absoluteley dominated the swimming events with 19 medals.
