Just another testament of how popular and well recognized disabled athletes are... A Swedish Paralympian has been awarded their countries highest sports award. He joins quite a long list of other Paralympians that have also won, or nominated for such honors since the massive success of the Beijing games.

"STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Shooter Jonas Jacobsson, a triple gold medallist at the Paralympic Games in Beijing, on Tuesday won Sweden's top sports honour.

Jacobsson was named the winner of the "Bragdguld" medal, awarded annually by newspaper Svenska Dagbladet to honour the biggest achievement by a Swedish athlete.

Jacobsson, 43, won gold medals in the mixed 50-metre free rifle, the men's 10-metre air rifle and the men's 50-metre free rifle in Beijing.

He has won at least one gold medal at every Paralympics since 1980. "
Jacobsson has won a total of 16 gold medals in Paralympic competitions alone, "His coach Anders Sundell said, "He is super. He is probably the best disabled shooter in the world."
