"Belgaum India: A team of five physically challenged swimmers of Swimmers’ Club and Aquarius Swim Club, Belgaum have brought laurels to the state by bagging 17 gold medals, 5 silver and 7 bronze medals at the 9th National Paralympics Swimming Championship.


Rajesh Shinde of Belgaum received `Best Swimmer of the Meet Award’.


The team comprises of three physically challenged, one hearing impaired and one mentally challenged swimmers. Shinde has bagged gold medals in 100 meters butterfly, 100 meteres back-stroke, 100 metrs breaststroke, 100 metres freestyle, 200 meters individual medley and 4x100 meters free style relay.


Raghavendra Anvekar won gold medals in 50 meters butterfly, 50 meters back-stroke, 50 meters breast-stroke, 50 meters free-style and 4x100 meters free-style relay. Atish Jadhav bagged gold medals in 50 meters butterfly, 50 meters back-stroke, 50 meters breast-stroke and 50 meters free-style. Umesh Khade bagged gold in 100 meters breast-stroke and silver medals in100 meters back-stroke, 100 meters free-style and 200 meters individual relay"
